Pollock
Meet Jackson Pollock, (1912–1956) he was an influential American painter and a major figure in the abstract expressionist movement.

In 1973, a piece of Pollocks work, "Blue Poles" was purchased by the Australian Government for the National Gallery of Australia, for US$2 million (A$1.3 million at the time of payment). At the time, this was the highest price ever paid for a modern painting. During this time, the purchase created a political and media scandal.
