Instagram me: Shen-Tel Lee, designer

A designer who loves nothing more than a good laugh, a cheeky meal by the roadside and a good junk shop!

This time, we take a sneak peek into a day in the life of Shen-Tel Lee, designer and co-founder of Jewellery label Bowerhaus.

Launch day for our biggest collaboration to date with the cult label dUCk. Arrived early to help with setup and go over details for the press and consumer event.

Breakfast inspired by the decadent pastries at Le Meruice in Paris, the hotel that inspired this collection.

Quick press photo with my sister and designer partner-in-crime Elizabeth Lee in our dUCkxBowerhaus scarves.

dUCkxBowerhaus scarves all lined up ready to go for the Press event.

Vivy Yusof at the custom dUCkxBowerhaus bracelet bar where she created her very own design to pair with her dUCkxBowerhaus Jade scarf.

Just one more missing from this photo, D.

Consumer event is in full swing and the line at the cashier and custom bar is insane. Still can’t believe how loyal and kind hearted all the dUCk fans were. Some customers waited for up to 5 hours to get their scarves. That is LOVE!

Personal portraits for all the guests.

Admiring the works of art and wishing that I got mine done. The line was just too long.

Home time! My feet at killing me at this stage. Didn’t forget to take this photo home with me from the photo table. What an amazing day!

Harper’s BAZAAR Malaysia hosted the ultimate cover launch luncheon at The Majestic Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Friday the 20th of May 2016.

June cover girl Nicole Warne flew in for a day trip to host the intimate lunch where guests were given one on one time with the Aussie beauty and Editor Natasha Kraal.

Guests were spoilt with floral treats from Emporio Armani, headbands from Sereni & Shentel, Makeup from Nars and Flowers from Country Victoria.

Bowerhaus co-founders Shen-Tel and Elizabeth Lee both attended and happily danced around Nicole for a Boomerang moment.

Prestige Malaysia May 2016 featuring Shen-Tel Lee & Elizabeth Lee-Yong

“There are two types of sisters,” Shentel Lee informs me when we sit down to chat, “the sisters that hate each other, fight over everything, parents have to buy two of everything. And there are sisters who are obsessed with each other, like Siamese twins.”

One need not guess which category Shen-Tel and her sister Elizabeth Shenlyn Lee Yong belong to.

“Lizzie and I are basically joined at the hip,” she continues. “I have such fond memories of us doing everything together, from piano lessons to ballet, art school, drama, we have always wanted to be together.”

That was pretty evident from the get-go, when Shen-Tel and Elizabeth took their respective places on set. That bond was obvious; there was singing, there was laughter, there was praise – the kind that you can’t just turn-on for an audience.

The way they get on, an obvious reflection of the happy childhood they had growing up in Sydney, nurtured by their parents, Dr. Lincoln and Dame Betty Lee. They did everything together, both declare, so much so that even when Shen-Tel moved to Malaysia after marrying her high-school sweetheart Bobby Ting, Elizabeth soon followed.

One can only imagine the joy that Shen-Tel must have felt when the younger Lee said yes to Benjamin Yong, making Kuala Lumpur her home.

“I can’t imagine if she was still living in Sydney,’ exclaims Shen-Tel. “Although I am in Kuching and she is in KL, we talk to each other every day and send each other photos. There is always chat going on between the two of us.”

“Unconditional love and then some,” is how Elizabeth describes her relationship with Shen-Tel. “My sisterly bond and love for Shen-Tel is so strong that my husband jokes that if he ever wants me to do something that I don’t want to do, he just needs to ask my sister to tell me and it will be done.“
