Kitchen Tea in honour of bride to be Elizabeth Lee

A Kitchen Tea was held for Bride to be Elizabeth Lee by her sister Shentel Lee in Kuching on the 9.10.2014. Guests flew in from as far as Sydney to attend this Aussie tradition. A Kitchen Tea is held in honor of a bride to be to allow her fiancés family and friends to meet and bond with her family and friends before the big day. Women are traditionally invited to help share in passing knowledge about marriage to the bride to be. Games are traditionally played with a wedding or Kitchen theme.

At this Kitchen Tea guests designed a plate for Elizabeth and Benjamin. Their designs will be turned into actual plates and gifted to the couple to add to their kitchen. Gifts were give with a Kitchen theme, a highlight was a candy floss machine given by Helen Reads best friend Abby Leong.

Guests were treated to a traditional Bridal game where a wedding dress is designed entirely out of toilet paper. It was a hard decision for Elizabeth to pick but the winning team was a dress designed by Joseph Teo, Lexie Rodrigues, Datin Esmila, Danielle Graham, Sereni Linggi and Datin Dian Lee.

The tea concluded with the reading of marriage wishes from the guests to both Benjamin and Elizabeth.

Marriage tip cards were filled in by the guests as a keepsake for the couple and the best one came from the mother of the bride Dame Betty Lee (OSJ) to Benjamin Yong.

Happy Surprise Birthday Elizabeth!

No one loves a surprise more then my baby sister Elizabeth Lee. When her fiancé Benjamin Yong messaged me saying he wanted to throw her a small dinner before she left to Sydney I could not wait to help!

Guests were only notified a day before the dinner (great things can happen with short notice) and to our surprise all guest were available. The venue was BEAST at the Intermark.

My job was to make sure Elizabeth would be dressed for her “date night” with Benjamin.

Guest arrived and at 8.30pm Elizabeth and Ben walked into their “date night” with 13 other guests. She was so completely surprised and screamed and yelled as she greeted each guest.

The evening was celebrated in custom Sereni & Shentel party hats. Dinner kick started with Elizabeths favourite Lobster macaroni and cheese followed by steaks and huge amounts of sides. The hero of the night had to be the triple fried chips that had everyone going back for seconds and third helpings. Benjamin Yong baked the Birthday girl a richly moist chocolate and fresh strawberry cake.

Sydney Birthdays are the BEST!

Birthdays are always best spent with family and friends. This year I was fortunate enough to be in Sydney with my nearest and dearest. All that was missing was my BFFs from Malaysia.

On the 20th of June I spent the evening at my favourite Greek Restaurant, The Apollo surrounded by my family and my oldest friends. There were balloons and feathers created by the amazing Heidi Moore Gill, custom gingham party hats by Sereni & Shentel and a greek feast that I still feel full from.

I have to thank my husband Bobby for arranging such a wonderful evening. xox Shentel

Dame Betty (OSJ)

On the 22nd of June at 3.30pm our mother Betty Lee was awarded the title of Dame by the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem.

The Grand Prior of Australia, H.E. Chavalier Pasquale Perdulla, conducted the solemn investiture ceremony at St. Mary’s Church.

Along side with eight other postulants, our mother was the first Malaysian to be accepted as a member to the sovereign hospitallier Order of Saint John of Jerusalem.

A 900 year old ritual was performed during the ceremony and it was a truly amazing experience to watch.

We are so proud of our mother who has for years worked quietly behind the scenes of many charities helping raise money for those in need.

Bowerhaus was a proud sponsor at the Ball that followed the ceremony, donating table gifts as well as lucky door prizes helping to raise a further $7000 dollars on the night for the Sydney Children’s Hospital. 

Poppies – Nyonya Raya Event

Together with Sereni & Shentel, Bowerhaus hosted a Nyonya High Tea for Poppies customers at Four Points by Sheraton Kuching. Each guest got to create their very own pair of Bowerhaus earrings to take home as gifts from Bowerhaus as well as view the latest collection of brooches created for the upcoming festive season. The highlight of the afternoon was a performance by songbird Atilia who was flown in from Kuala Lumpur especially for the event.

The Melium Group & Malaysia Tatler 25th Anniversary Charity Auction

Night out and trying to get our pose on… We definitely should have practiced our model strut before this photo. @meliumpr and @malaysiatatler join forces again to raise funds in a charity auction in commemoration of their 25th anniversary! What an exciting evening where over 3.2million was raised with 100% of proceeds donated to five NGO’s. A very big congratulations on such a successful night! Xox Elizabeth Lee
